This speaks to me so deeply. Not living with anyone who is as sensitive to light as I am has made me wonder if I am crazy for wanting to keep the lights dim in the morning, or not on at all, as we wake with our morning coffee in the grey spring days of the PNW. Same at night- dim them and get a sense of the hygge that the Danes always talk about. . I love this: "No greater offense to the senses exists than indoor lights turned on in early morning hours, the sterile glare stunting and shattering the leisurely approach of growing daylight with its urgency and severity. " Thank you Taylor for another beautiful essay and glimpse into your life.

Thank you for the kind words Sarah, I am so glad this one spoke to you. And I 100% support dim or no lights in the morning and letting the daylight and your energy grow slowly.💜

Beautiful. Restful. True. Your writing is stunning as it takes us with you to the world you live in. And reminds us we are human and intricately bound to nature if we allow ourselves to be. And, how much happier and more peaceful we are when we do.
