Wowwwww, Taylor. The power of this piece is still reverberating in my cells, so please forgive me if I'm not at my most articulate in this comment! It's so interesting how we perceive the Good to be so fleeting and the Bad (or even the Neutral) to be so much more prolonged and present... is it just our perception? Or is it actually true and a very clever part of The Divine Plan? Something to ponder. But definitely something for me to practice that I'm taking away from this piece is to actually acknowledge the Good and the Happy and the Joyful and the Beautiful when it's happening. To speak its presence out loud, marvel at its wonderfulness, and express my gratitude for it. Thank you. x
Thank you so much Sonia, it means a ton to hear how this connected with you. And such a great question. I don't know the answer, but I'm reminded of a line from a Jane Hirshfield poem that I think of often, where she says, "so few grains of happiness, measured against all the dark, and still, the scales balance."
Taylor I really connected with this piece. I have since come back to re-read it, with a different set of eyes, and each time something different resonates. I hope to read it again and again, and that the piece finds me when I really am needing the reminders. Thank you for writing it.
A truth so beautifully captured, Taylor. Leaning in to the fact that the trick is in loving (or at least accepting) it all is real work, and not a linear journey (not for me, at least!), but it is one so worthy of embarking upon... Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

"...and still, the scales balance" - I think we found our answer! x
